More works on paper

Continuing to paint on A3 paper - which works well in my current confined space, and am quite enjoying the necessity of working quicker, and over a small space. Can't wait until we move though in April and I will have access to a new studio space where I will be able to stand and paint once more. Funny how important that is it turns out. Anyway, all the paintings below should be available on Artwork100 once Jai has uploaded them. Take a look lots of art for £100 including postage.

Painting on Paper

I had a dream recently about doing a massive painting on a huge roll of paper. It was a large abstract. I subsequently bought a roll I can paint on, but then looked around my little space I am using and realised I didn't have the room to do a painting like that, so it remains within my head. I did buy some smaller paper for painting on though, and here are some of my most recent efforts:

Tell the king the news
They are all mixed media on acrylic paper, 42x29.7cm.

These should all be appearing shortly on the Artwork100 website where they will be for sale for £100 (including post and packing) - A bargain, if I ever saw one.

Visitors and the Purple Cat

This is a little picture I made whist painting other things. It's only 27x36cm. It fits in with my aliens work, even though the big painting I am working on at the moment has more to do with landscapes than aliens. I've stopped fore the day with the bigger picture on wood unfinished, because it's no good as it stands. It reminds me a bit of a painting I did about 2 years ago but it still needs work. This little one though has benefited from being left for a while and having some colour added to it.

Visitors

I am still working on my iPad Purple Cat series. 28 drawings so far, and I'm not finished by a long way. Here's a couple to give you a taste.

Where YOU goin'? (With that gun in your hand)

I may be a voodoo chile. I have been listening to lots of Jimi the last couple of days, in the car and at home. Anyway listening made me feel like painting. I've dropped the aliens at the moment and am experimenting with painting on paper. So here's a piece - acrylics on papyrus (Yes "Hey Joe" was playing):

Meanwhile I am drawing a series of iPad paintings about my Purple cat. Now don't you go telling people I don't have a purple cat, because I do, see?

Alien Winter

With frozen vines, the need to wear two pairs of socks, icy winds and the UFOs flying all over the place, I guess this painting needs no explanation. But I could be wrong on this.

Aliens Invading

Alien invasion in 2013. You heard it here first. Well that's my world currently. It started on iPad some time ago - alien creatures appearing in my Brushes drawings, and now they have spread to my canvas. It all makes sense - this is what the Mayans were predicting - the end of the world, no - but look at their drawings, their markings on mountains and plains. Or rather, the Nazca marks. Were they the Mayans? "No you idiot they were the Nazca". Isn't that some sort of American car racing thing? "No that's Nascar, you fool". Ah well, there's some sort of alien life form invading my art world, and I like it.

Here's some iPad aliens:

And here's some new alien paintings - the first one larger on wood and the second one smaller, on canvas:
Alien Revenge. Mixed media on plywood, 80x60cm
Alien Pair. Mixed media on canvas, 27x46cm
More, as usual, on the website, at www.davidabse.com, when I've uploaded everything.
